Barcelona are trying to hijack Liverpool’s pursuit of Thomas Lemar and have got in touch with his representatives and Monaco over a proposed transfer.

Arsenal have backed out a move to sign Lemar believing Monaco won’t be allowing him to leave, but Liverpool have been putting in the leg work this week to sign the player.

Monaco have already rejected a bid from Liverpool for the 21-year-old winger, but a meeting is reportedly under way between the two clubs in the Principality as the Reds look to push through a deal.

But the Merseyside giants are set to face considerable opposition in their chase for the Frenchman as according to Catalan daily Sport, Barcelona have entered the transfer ring to sign Lemar.

With Liverpool making it impossible for Barcelona to get their hands on Philippe Coutinho, the Catalan giants have identified the Reds target as the man they want before tomorrow’s deadline.
