Dwight Gayle wants to continue at Newcastle United despite interest from Fulham in the dying hours of transfer deadline day.

Gayle has been on the chopping block for Newcastle this summer, but with the club struggling to find a new forward, they are planning to hold on to him beyond the end of the window today.

Fulham made a £15m pound bid for the player yesterday, which Newcastle likely rejected but the Cottagers are yet to return to the table with a new offer.

There has been fresh speculation that the London club could make a new bid before the window slams shut tonight but it seems they could be forced to end up convincing a reluctant player.

According to the Chronicle, Gayle is not keen to leave Newcastle today and would prefer to continue to play Premier League football with the Magpies this season.
