Guingamp attacking midfielder Yannis Salibur, who has been regularly linked with Leeds United this summer, has scuppered a move to Saint-Etienne at the last minute.

Saint-Etienne agreed a fee with Guingamp for Salibur, thought to be around the €8m mark, and were closing in on signing him before the window closed.

But according to French daily Le Progres, at the last minute Salibur presented Saint-Etienne with new salary demands; he had been due to sign a four-year contract.

Saint-Etienne refused to accept Salibur's wage demands and the transfer collapsed.

The attacking midfielder is now heading back to Guingamp, where he will continue to ply his trade this season.

With the move to Saint-Etienne falling apart, the door is now open for Salibur's suitors to try to sign him when the window kicks off once again in January.

Guingamp meanwhile will hope that Salibur can quickly focus on matters at hand and put the move failure behind him.
