Newcastle United have made a deadline day move for Napoli’s Brazilian goalkeeper Rafael Cabral.

With Tim Krul on his way to Brighton, Newcastle are in the market for a goalkeeper late in the window and Rafael Benitez has gazed his eyes towards one of his former clubs in the shape of Napoli.




According to BBC World Service, the Magpies have put in a bid for 27-year-old goalkeeper Rafael and are waiting for a response from Napoli with the hours ticking down on the transfer window.

Joining Napoli from Santos in 2013, he has made 45 appearances for Napoli thus far but has seen his stock fall at the San Paolo and is no longer an integral part of the squad.
 


Second choice to Pepe Reina, Rafael is believed to be keen to leave the club this summer and has suitors in Newcastle. who are prepared to take him to St. James’ Park on deadline day.

Rafael, who also has three caps for Brazil to his name, is in the final year of his contract with Napoli.
