Jay-Roy Grot may have only clocked up 20 minutes on the pitch for Leeds United across a single Championship appearance since joining recently, but it is enough for former Whites boss Neil Redfearn to be impressed.

Leeds swooped to sign Grot from Dutch side NEC Nijmegen, paying just an initial £750,000, while the total fee may in future rise to around the £1.5m mark.

Whites fans are already impressed with the pace and power the young striker has on offer and Redfearn also counts himself as a member of the Grot fan club.

He admits there is much for Grot to learn, not least with his movement, but thinks the Dutchman offers Leeds something they had not had in recent years.

"I like the look of him", Redfearn admitted on Radio Yorkshire.

"He was only on 20, 25 minutes [against Nottingham Forest], but he looked the part.

"He looked big and strong, and powerful.

"A little bit raw, if I am honest, with some of his movement.

"But endeavour, effort, power and pace, something different to what Leeds have had in the past", the former Leeds boss added.

Leeds are next in action after the international break at Elland Road against Burton Albion, a game which may hand the home faithful the chance to get an up close look at Grot.

The Whites then host Birmingham City in a midweek fixture.
