Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have been given hope of Marcos Llorente potentially being available in January as his situation at Real Madrid will be reviewed in the new year, according to Spanish daily Marca.

The 22-year-old, who had a fruitful spell at Alaves last season, has struggled for game time since returning to Real Madrid in the summer.

Los Blancos boss Zinedine Zidane has thus far used Llorente just once in the present campaign, when he played the final 18 minutes of his side’s 3-0 league win over Deportivo La Coruna on 20th August.

As a result, the defensive midfielder was desperate to seek a loan move away from Real Madrid during the summer transfer window in search of more playing time.

Besides Chelsea and Spurs, Atletico Madrid, Sevilla, Liverpool, Arsenal, Barcelona, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain were credited with showing interest in the youngster.

Chelsea and Spurs put in official enquiries, however Real Madrid were in no mood to part with Llorente even after the player’s agent and uncle Julio Llorente’s meeting with the club’s hierarchy on deadline day.

But Chelsea and Spurs could still get their man this season, albeit during the January transfer window, when Llorente’s situation will be reviewed by the capital club.

Llorente could again ask to leave if he is not playing regularly, but Real Madrid have sent a signal over how highly they value him by upping his buy-out clause to €300m recently.
