Tottenham Hotspur legend Graham Roberts has been left unimpressed with Crystal Palace’s decision to sack Frank de Boer.

The Eagles, who parted ways with the Dutchman earlier in the day, appointed him just 10 weeks ago to replace Sam Allardyce.

Under, De Boer’s stewardship, Crystal Palace lost their first four Premier League games in the present campaign against Huddersfield Town, Liverpool, Swansea and Burnley; the Selhurst Park outfit are yet to score a goal in the league this season.

However, Roberts, who is of the opinion that De Boer should have been given more time at Crystal Palace, feels the London club would have fared better once Wilfired Zaha and Mamadou Sakho return to action from their respective absences.

“Why appoint a manager like that if you knew him losing his first few would mean you would sack him?” he tweeted.

“Someone like him [can be] long term only choice.

“You were banking on him winning his first few games and that was not a given!

“And if he is not getting on [with the] chairman then you have to say they should have done their homework better.

“With Sakho and Zaha they would have been a different side.”

Former England and Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson has been linked with succeeding De Boer at Crystal Palace, who will next face Southampton in a home league game on Saturday.
