Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger admits he was concerned at times during his side's 1-0 EFL Cup win against Doncaster Rovers as the League One side looked dangerous for the Frenchman.

Wenger's men scored through Theo Walcott in the 25th minute after they had hit the crossbar early on via an overhead kick from striker Olivier Giroud.

But despite dominating possession and enjoying far more shots on goal, Arsenal could not add to their advantage and were forced into nervy moments, with notably Doncaster's Matty Blair hitting the bar.

Arsenal saw out the game, booking a clash in the next round against Norwich City at the Emirates Stadium.

And Wenger admits that Arsenal's level declined through the game, with concern then growing.

"Yes that was hard work, credit to Doncaster, they kept going. We started well in the first 35 minutes but we decreased slowly", Wenger was quoted as saying by the BBC.

"We lost our collective game and couldn't score the second goal, it became more difficult.

"We wanted to score goals we were just lacking. It was a typical cup game.

"I was concerned, they looked dangerous", the Arsenal boss added.

Arsenal's win against Doncaster also saw midfielder Jack Wilshere complete 90 minutes for the club for the first time since September 2014.
