Ex-Leeds United midfielder Andy Couzens feels it does not matter who the Whites draw in the next round of the EFL Cup as long as they are handed a home tie.

The Yorkshire giants edged out Premier League outfit Burnley on penalties on Tuesday night to book their place in the fourth round of the domestic cup competition.

Hadi Sacko broke the deadlock in the 80th minute at Turf Moor before former Leeds star Chris Wood scored from the spot to level things up nine minutes later.

Leeds then themselves had a penalty in injury-time and Pablo Hernandez dispatched it, but Burnley still had time to level things up through Robbie Brady.

However, Thomas Christiansen’s team had the last laugh in the penalty shootout, with the Whites successfully converting all their spot-kicks.

And Couzens said that although many would want Leeds to come up against a big club such as Manchester United in the next round of the EFL Cup, he thinks it does not matter whom the Elland Road outfit play if it is a home game.

“Just a home draw to be honest”, he told LUTV, when asked whom he wants Leeds to draw in the next round.

“We all say we want a big one at home, I would love a Tuesday night or Wednesday night at home with Man United or something like that.

“But to be honest, it doesn’t really make a difference as long as it’s a home tie.

“We’ll have a decent crowd there and as they say, confidence comes from cup wins.

“Hopefully the confidence comes from this into Saturday because Saturday is massively important.”

Leeds will next play Ipswich Town in a Championship fixture on Saturday.
