Former Leeds United midfielder Andy Couzens feels the positivity surrounding the club is all due to head coach Thomas Christiansen.

The Whites, who appointed Christiansen as their new head coach in the summer after the departure of Garry Monk, beat Premier League club Burnley on penalties in the EFL Cup on Tuesday night.

Leeds have been in fine form in the present campaign and are currently level on points with Wolverhampton Wanderers at the top of the Championship table.

Christiansen, whose side have lost just once this season, fielded a second-string team at Turf Moor.

And Couzens thinks the impressive performances of the squad players against Burnley show that Christiansen’s man-management skills are top notch.

The 42-year-old also went on to add that the togetherness of the Leeds squad is also down to the Dane.

“There’s a definite togetherness and you can see that and that can only bode well for the rest of the season”, Couzens said on LUTV.

“It’s going to be a long season and they need to stick together.

“There will be a lot of people getting injuries, there are going to be people who will come into the team and come out of the team.

“But they all need to do a job. I think tonight it kind of shows that.

“The togetherness is there, you can see that and I think Thomas Christiansen has got a massive part to play in that.

“His man-management skills must be top notch because he is getting people who didn’t play well last year to play a lot better.

“He has obviously got that feeling around the club, there’s a good feeling behind the scenes, there’s a good feeling on the pitch, the fans are all excited for this season, so long it may continue.”

Leeds, whose sole defeat of the season came against Millwall last weekend, have the best defensive record in the Championship and are second in the division in terms of goals scored.
