Mateusz Klich has insisted that several Leeds United players, including himself, were looking to prove a point during the Whites’ win over Burnley in the EFL Cup on Tuesday night.

Leeds boss Thomas Christiansen rested several first team regulars as he gave chances to his squad players at Turf Moor, with the visitors winning the contest on penalties.

Klich, who joined Leeds from FC Twente in the summer, played the whole game against Burnley.

The midfielder has thus far made just five appearances in all competitions for the Yorkshire giants, with three of those coming in the EFL Cup.

And Klich, who explained that he is hungry for game time, said that he was out to prove a point against the Premier League outfit.

“Exactly and I’m one of them”, he said on LUTV, when asked if a lot of players were looking to prove a point against Burnley.

“I just want to get minutes and get games.

“I didn’t have a pre-season and it’s just my fourth game for Leeds.

“It’s getting better and better.”

Klich went on to add that the win over Burnley was a good reaction by Leeds, following their 1-0 loss to Millwall in the Championship last weekend.

“Yes, I think it was a very good reaction”, he added.

“Everyone saw that we’re a very good team and hard to beat.

“Even a Premier League side couldn’t win against us.

“It was really good for us and really important for the future.”
