Liverpool midfielder Emre Can insists that nothing has changed at the club since the international break and the Reds only need to get their self-confidence back to return to winning ways.

The Reds are winless since the international break, having suffered an embarrassing 5-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester City on 9th September followed by a Champions League draw against Sevilla, a draw with Burnley and an EFL Cup exit after losing to Leicester City.

The figures are in complete contrast with the opening month of the season when Liverpool drew one and won the remaining four of their matches in all competitions.

The Germany international believes that the club are going through a temporary lull and will again start firing on all cylinders once they get their self-confidence back.

“Nothing has changed – it’s the same team, the same manager and the same style of play. Nothing has changed", Can told his club's official website.

"We just have to get self-confidence back, score more goals and the time will come again."

Reflecting on their performance over the course of the last four games, the 23-year-old said that he believes that Liverpool were not bad in those games.

On the Manchester City game where they conceded five, Can said that they were unlucky to have lost Sadio Mane and had to pay the price in the end.

“If you look back at the four games we didn’t win, we didn’t play that badly.

"Of course, against Manchester City it was 5-0 and that’s hard but we had chances before they scored and if we had scored maybe the game would have been completely different.

“We conceded a goal and it was still an open game, then we got the red card.

"After that, Manchester City are a difficult team to play against with 10 men.

"The game was over and we lost that game."
