Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson says that he has seen first hand that the Whites are hated across the country.

Thomas Christiansen's men have made a positive start to the season and until recently were top of the Championship table, meaning they were there to be shot at.

Two successive away defeats in the league have pushed Leeds down to third, but the Whites are still considered potential promotion candidates and will be looking to get back on track this weekend away at Sheffield Wednesday.

Jansson accepts that Leeds flying high means that clubs will want to beat the Whites, however he feels the situation exists anyway as the club are widely hated.

"Everybody wants to beat us", Jansson said at a press conference.

"Leeds are a team that a lot of people hate in this country, I've seen that.

"Take Millwall as an example.

"When we went there we were a big rival for Millwall and you could see that from the first minute, from the stands, from the players on the pitch, it was a tight game.

"We weren't 100 per cent ready for that."

And the Sweden international added: "If we are first in the table then the other teams want to go out there and beat us, that's normal."

Jansson joined Leeds last summer on loan and the current campaign is his first as a permanent signing at the club.

The centre-back is widely loved by the Whites faithful and recently returned to action following a hamstring complaint, which convinced head coach Christiansen to ease him back slowly.
