Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers feels his side did well to grab a 2-2 draw at home against Hibernian, arguing the meeting with Neil Lennon's men was always going to be difficult.

The Bhoys took the lead in the 15th minute through Callum McGregor, who hit a super strike which flew into the back of the net.

But Hibernian's heads did not drop and they eventually drew level in the 53rd minute through John McGinn, before then stunning the champions by going 2-1 up, the same player scoring once again.

Hibernian's lead did not last long however and just three minutes later McGregor scored his second of the afternoon to make it 2-2, which was how it finished.

For Rodgers, Celtic have reason to be happy with the draw and he insists he always expected a tough game against the visitors.

"It was arguably our result of the season", Rodgers told BBC Radio Scotland.

"Coming into the game today, it was always going to be difficult.

"Hibs have shown that, on their day, they are a very good side."

And Rodgers feels tiredness played its part in affecting his men.

"It is an amazing indication of the run we have been on – with the tiredness creeping in after all the midweek travel and you go 2-1 down but to come back I have nothing but pride for the players.

"I give credit to my players for everything they put into this last month.

"We have played a lot of games in a short space of time", Rodgers added.

While Celtic have dropped two points against Hibs, they have extended their unbeaten domestic run.
