Nacho Monreal has revealed Arsenal had crunch talks following their 4-0 loss to Liverpool in a bid to turn their season around, following the Gunners beating Brighton 2-0 on Sunday afternoon to move up to fifth in the Premier League standings.

Arsene Wenger's men were savaged following their loss at Anfield and Monreal admits that the defeat prompted the side to come together and make sure a similar performance would not happen again.

Arsenal have not lost since the Liverpool game, winning six of their following seven games, with the only draw coming away at champions Chelsea.

And Monreal believes the Gunners are staying more compact and reaping the benefits, especially defensively, with another clean sheet kept against Brighton at the Emirates.

"After Liverpool, we talked because we couldn’t play like we did that day", Monreal was quoted as saying by his club's official site.

"We lost 4-0 and the image of the team and the club was really poor.

"From there, the team rallied and we started to play more compact and defended well with everyone in the next few games.

"We kept a clean sheet in the next game as well and that was important for us because we know we have top players up front who are going to score goals.

"If the defenders can help the team with a clean sheet, it’s much better for us", the Spaniard added.

Arsenal now head into the international break, boosted by a win, and are not next in action until 14th October, when a trip to Vicarage Road to face Watford is on the agenda for Wenger's side.
