Rangers goalkeeper Wes Foderingham insists he dug Ross McCrorie out of a hole by saving a penalty in the Gers' 4-1 win away at Hamilton on Friday evening.

Young defender McCrorie made a mistake at the SuperSeal Stadium, finding himself in the wrong position and then bringing down Andrew Dallas in the box, leading to the referee pointing to the penalty spot.

Up stepped Rakish Bingham, but his spot-kick was saved by Foderingham, who had done his homework on the way which Bingham likes to strike his penalties.

Foderingham says he dug McCrorie out of a hole by saving the penalty and admits the youngster thanked him after the match.

"I’ve obviously dug Ross out of a bit of a hole there, so he thanked me when he got into the dressing room", Foderingham told Rangers TV.

But Foderingham has words of praise for McCrorie, who he feels has slotted into the first team superbly and performed well in Rangers' Old Firm loss against Celtic at Ibrox.

"He has done fantastically well.

"He did really well at the weekend [against Celtic] and he did brilliantly well again [at Hamilton]."

The goalkeeper is sure that McCrorie will learn from his error at the SuperSeal Stadium, with such things happening with inexperience.

"It was just a poor decision at that moment in time, but he will learn. He’s young and he’s done fantastically well", Foderingham added.
