AC Milan are plotting a bid to snare Antonio Conte away from Chelsea at the end of the current campaign.

The Rossoneri were the biggest spenders of the summer in Italy and signed an array of players to completely overhaul their squad, but results so far have been mixed.

They have won four and lost three of their seven league games thus far and are sitting seventh in the league table behind clubs such as Roma and Torino, with Napoli, Juventus and Inter Milan making the early running at the top of the standings.

AC Milan coach Vincenzo Montella is under pressure to get the club back into the top four this season and it has been claimed that their derby game against Inter after the international break could prove to be decisive for his future.

A positive result will allow him time to continue at the club this season, but a defeat could end his time at the San Siro prematurely.
