Barcelona have continued to maintain contact with Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho and have left the offer made for him in the summer on the table for the January transfer window.

The Catalan giants were keen to sign the Brazil midfielder in the summer and Coutinho also wanted to move to Nou Camp, which was made clear through his written transfer request to Liverpool.

The Merseyside club made it abundantly clear that they were not interested in selling the 25-year-old and rejected big money offers from Barcelona to keep hold of the player.

Coutinho returned to action for Liverpool last month and has been in good form for the Reds, but the Brazilian is still interested in a move to his dream destination Barcelona.

And according to Spanish daily Mundo Deportivo, the Catalan giants have been in continuous contact with the player and he is aware that Barcelona are still keen to sign him as soon as possible.

The Brazilian has instructed his representatives to continue to press the Liverpool hierarchy to find an amicable solution so that he can join Barcelona in the near future.

Barcelona are also plotting a fresh move for the player in the January transfer window, but are unwilling to improve the €110m offer they made for him in the summer.

Coutinho has already appeared in the Champions League this season in Liverpool colours and will be unavailable to play for Barcelona in the competition if he moves in January.

But Barcelona do not consider it a problem as they feel he would strengthen their hand in La Liga and are set to attempt to sign him in the winter window.
