Former Leeds United boss Neil Redfearn believes the Whites should look to bring in players with Championship experience during the January transfer window.

After a fantastic start to the season, the wheels have started to come off Leeds’ campaign and three defeats in four have pushed them down to fifth in the Championship table.

Thomas Christiansen overhauled the squad with the help of director of football Victor Orta in the summer, but their transfer business had a continental vibe to it and Redfearn believes they should take a hard look at the domestic market in January.

The former Leeds boss wants the club to strengthen the spine of the side in order to allow the flair players more freedom to express themselves, but he also believes with Felix Wiedwald performing poorly, they could be in for a new goalkeeper as well.

Redfearn stressed the importance of Leeds looking to sign players with Championship experience in the winter window.

When asked who he would sign for Leeds in January, the former Whites boss said on Radio Yorkshire: “I would strengthen the spine so that they can play [Ezgjan] Alioski and [Samu] Saiz.

“And [they] might even need a keeper.

“I think they've got to look domestically as well; they've got to look at people who have played at this level.”
