Plymouth Argyle manager Derek Adams has insisted that there is no denying Nadir Ciftci’s ability as he backed the Celtic loanee to receive his first team chance again.

The striker joined the Pilgrims from Celtic on a season-long loan deal in the summer, but he is yet to score for his new employers, who are struggling at the foot of League One.

Ciftci, who has thus far clocked up 518 minutes over seven appearances in all competitions for the League One outfit, has not featured for the club in their last three league outings.

However Adams, who revealed that Ciftci will play for the reserves on Tuesday, is confident about the striker turning out for the first team once again as he has no doubt about the 25-year-old’s qualities.

"It's about waiting his time to get that opportunity again, but he'll get that”, Adams was quoted as saying by the BBC.

"He'll play in the reserve game on Tuesday and hopefully we'll get some games into him then.

"He's got undoubted ability, he can take the ball in, he can score goals and he can link up play.

"He played the first six games and he's missed a few other games when he's been on the bench."

Ciftci, who joined Celtic from Dundee United in 2015, has previously spent time out on loan at Eskisehirspor and Pogon Szczecin.

The former Turkey Under-19 international is contracted with the Scottish giants until the summer of 2019.
