Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has insisted that Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United side are not just a long ball team.

Manchester United have made a fantastic start to the season and are currently level on points with Manchester City at the top of the Premier League pile after seven games.

Going to Anfield on Saturday, Manchester United have a seven-point lead over Liverpool, but many are concerned that Mourinho could adopt last season’s tactics and park the bus on Merseyside.

Klopp feels Manchester United are in a much better position at the moment than last season and feels Mourinho’s side are so much better than just a defensive route one team.

The Liverpool manager pointed to the attacking and creative quality Manchester United possess and says he is looking forward to a good game at Anfield.

Klopp said in a press conference: “Jose’s team play like they have to play in each moment. They are in a better situation than last year.

“They have fantastic players like [Henrikh] Mkhitaryan, [Juan] Mata, [Marcus] Rashford and [Romelu] Lukaku.

“Against us they played often pretty long, but they don’t always do this.

"They sometimes build up situations and come between the lines with Mkhitaryan and Mata.

“We know they have big quality. But we are still positive. We look forward to it.”

Mourinho received criticism for adapting defensive tactics last season after Manchester United played out a 0-0 draw at Anfield.
