Valencia coach Marcelino has insisted that he is not aware of any offer that the club received from Manchester City for his striker Rodrigo.

Manchester City were one of the heavy spenders of the summer transfer market and a huge chunk of the money went into Pep Guardiola’s quest to have better full-back options.




Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus are two of Guardiola’s striking options, but it has emerged that other that lining up defenders, the Manchester City boss also wanted another striker.

And the club reportedly made a €35m bid for Valencia striker Rodrigo, but the transfer never happened as Marcelino allegedly blocked the player's move away from the club.
 


However, Marcelino stressed that he did not do anything of the sort as he is not aware that Valencia received any offer for Rodrigo.

The Valencia coach said in a press conference when asked about reports of a Manchester City move for his player: “I don’t know anything about a €35m offer for Rodrigo.

“I didn’t block anything because I didn’t know about the existence of the offer.”

Rodrigo, a product of Real Madrid’s academy, has been in good form this season, scoring four goals and providing two assists for his team-mates.
