Leeds United boss Thomas Christiansen feels his team created the better opportunities at Elland Road against Reading, despite slipping to a 1-0 defeat.

The Whites headed into the Championship clash on a worrying run of three defeats in their last four league games and hopes were high amongst Leeds fans that the situation could be turned around.

But Leeds struggled to get the better of the Royals and fell behind in the 84th minute when former White Modou Barrow fired the visitors ahead.

Leeds did have a chance to level at the death when Samu Saiz was brought down in the penalty area and the resultant spot-kick was put at Pablo Hernandez's feet.

The Spaniard saw his effort saved by Reading goalkeeper Vito Mannone though and Leeds suffered a fourth loss in five league games.

For Christiansen, his men deserved more for their performance.

"I'm disappointed, we felt we could have bounced back today with a win", he told LUTV.

"It should have been us. We did everything right in the second half.

"In the first half our build up was too slow, but in the second half we did much better and created more opportunities.

"I don't think Reading had another chance apart from when they scored.

"I believe we deserved at least a point, but we need to work a lot and bring the confidence back, which got us into this position."

And Christiansen urged his Leeds team to stick together and pull through a tough spell.

"As a team we have to stand together and fight."
