Ex-Liverpool striker Neil Mellor is certain about the Reds moving up the Premier League table and becoming title contenders if they manage to convert some of the chances they are creating.

Jurgen Klopp’s team, who drew 0-0 with Manchester United at the weekend, despite creating several goalscoring opportunities, are currently in eighth place in the Premier League table with 13 points from eight games.

Liverpool presently find themselves nine points adrift of leaders Manchester City and and two points behind fourth-placed Watford.

The Merseyside giants have been guilty of squandering numerous goalscoring chances this season, while the defence has also let in soft goals.

And Mellor, who admitted that Liverpool are not in an ideal position in the league table, is however confident of his former team moving up the standings and being in the title mix, provided they are more decisive in front of goal.
