Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has insisted that he does not regret responding to Jose Mourinho’s barb over injuries earlier this week.

Without mentioning Conte’s name, Mourinho said earlier in the week that he does not like crying and moaning about injuries to players, unlike other managers, and the Chelsea manager found time to respond.

In a direct message to Mourinho, the Italian insisted that the Portuguese should just concern himself about his team and not talk about the managers and players of other sides.

And the Chelsea boss stressed that he does not regret a word he uttered in response to Mourinho and feels there is no reason for anyone to talk about other players and teams when they have to focus on their own sides.

Conte termed the issue stupid and indicated that he is getting more attention than he deserves.

The Chelsea manager said in a press conference: “I don’t regret what I said. Every manager has to talk about himself, his team, his players – not the other. My answer is always the same.

“Every coach must be focused on [their] own work and own complaints, that is the best way.

“These are stupid things.

"For me, this is a stupid issue.

"It’s fun to see your interest in this and I am surprised about this.”

Conte is keen to get his side back on track after Chelsea lost back-to-back league games and they will host Watford at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
