Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has eased injury worries around Stuart Armstrong, ahead of the Hoops’ Scottish League Cup semi-final meeting with Hibernian on Saturday.

The midfielder was struggling with a hamstring injury and missed Celtic’s last two league outings against Hibs and Dundee respectively.

Armstrong, who sat out Scotland's final two World Cup qualifying matches during the last international week, returned to action against Bayern Munich on Wednesday.

However, the 25-year-old was substituted in the 65th minute at the Allianz Arena, with the Scottish champions losing the Champions League game 3-0.

But Rodgers, who revealed that Armstrong was taken off as a precautionary measure, insisted that the Scotland international is fit and ready to play against Hibs at Hampden.

“I thought Stu was great”, he said in a press conference on Friday, when asked if Armstrong came through fit and well against Bayern Munich.

“I thought Stu did very well, he played 63 or 64 minutes in the game the other night.

“I thought he was moving well.

“You’re always wary of someone coming back from a hamstring injury, hence we took him off.

“But he’s fit and ready for the game.”

Armstrong, who signed a new deal with Celtic in the summer, has thus far made 16 appearances in all competitions for the Bhoys in the present campaign, scoring three times and setting up a goal.
