Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane admits that his side’s plan was to have a go at Liverpool from the first minute at Wembley in order to get a fast start, after Spurs ran out 4-1 winners.

Kane and Heung-min Son scored two early goals to provide a firm footing to the home side at Wembley and while Mohamed Salah pulled one back around the half way mark of the first half, Spurs’ two-goal lead was restored by Dele Alli on the cusp of half-time.

Tottenham again looked like the team most likely to score after the break and Kane put the game beyond Liverpool after another series of defensive howlers, starting from Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet.

Kane admits that the plan was to start the game at a breathtaking pace and have a go at Liverpool and believes they could have scored more goals before the half time whistle was blown.

The striker told Sky Sports: "Unbelievable, we wanted to start fast and get the crowd on their feet – that's exactly what we did.

"I thought we played really well.

"Their goal came against the run of play.

“We were pushing and could have got the third or fourth goal early on."

Tottenham will travel to the north west next weekend to take on Manchester United at Old Trafford.
