Former Manchester United defender Kevin Moran feels the EFL Cup clash against Swansea on Tuesday night will offer the Red Devils players a good opportunity to shrug off the defeat to Huddersfield Town.

In a disappointing display in west Yorkshire, Manchester United suffered their first loss of the league this season when they were defeated by Huddersfield 2-1 at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Jose Mourinho was unhappy with the lack of attitude and desire from his Manchester United players but Moran feels the EFL Cup game on Tuesday is a huge opportunity for some of them to return to form.

The former defender admits players are always keen to get a quick follow-up after a poor result and the game against Swansea is a chance for the Manchester United players to prove their doubters wrong and get the Huddersfield result out of their system.

Moran said on MUTV’s Matchday Review programme: “The good thing about this is that there is a game on Tuesday.

“From the players’ point of view, you can’t wait for the next game to get something out of your system.

"They need to get this game out of their system.

“You talk about attitude and desire, but Tuesday can’t come quick enough for the players to show the supporters and themselves that this was a blip and only a blip.

“And we can go on, start looking ahead and catching Manchester City.”

Manchester United did comfortably beat Swansea in the league earlier in the season and will hope to repeat the performance and result on Tuesday night.
