RB Leipzig centre-back Marvin Compper is expected to undergo a medical with Scottish champions Celtic on Monday ahead of completing his switch to Parkhead.

Bhoys boss Brendan Rodgers has been criticised for not bringing in another central defender in the summer transfer window earlier this year and he is to use the winter window to bolster his defensive resources.

According to German outlet Sportbuzzer, Celtic will pay RB Leipzig a fee of €950,000 to sign Compper, who will put pen to paper on a contract running until the summer of 2020, with an option for a further year.

Compper was in Glasgow last week to look over the club's facilities and the city.

Rodgers is a big fan of Compper and also had the defender round to his home for dinner as he sought to sell the benefits of a move to Celtic.
