Liverpool are reluctant to accept Barcelona’s current offer for Philippe Coutinho and are asking for more money.

The Coutinho transfer saga, which has been running since last summer, has been taking fresh turns every week as the player pushes to finally leave Liverpool and join Barcelona.

There is optimism that the deal that did not happen last summer, will eventually get over the line this month but negotiations between the two clubs have been tough.

Barcelona are claimed to have offered an initial fee of €110m and another €40m based on variables such as appearances and trophies which Coutinho could win at the Nou Camp.

The Catalan giants have been confident that they have offered a good deal, but according to Mundo Deportivo, the Merseyside giants are asking for more money.

There are suggestions that Liverpool want a better fee up front and want the performance based variables to be easily achievable as they look to extract the best deal out of Barcelona.

The Reds were also left unimpressed by Nike’s decision to prematurely announce Coutinho’s transfer to Barcelona and it has caused annoyance in the Liverpool hierarchy.

Despite the hiccups, Barcelona are confident that an agreement will be done soon and are expecting to get the deal over the line next week.
