Torino are eyeing a move for Watford forward Stefano Okaka in the January transfer window, but the club are yet to make a play for him.

Joining Watford from Anderlecht in the summer of 2016, the Italian enjoyed initial success, but injuries and suspensions mean he has dropped down the pecking order at Vicarage Road this season.

After a few appearances, he was again dropped from the squad against Manchester City earlier this week and there are suggestions Watford are open to offers for the forward.

And according to Sky Italia, Okaka could return to Italy in this month’s transfer window as Torino are interested in signing him as part of their plans this winter.

Torino appointed former Watford boss Walter Mazzarri as their new head coach on Thursday and the Italian is in favour of signing his former player this month.

However, the Serie A side have only identified Okaka as a target this month and are yet to establish a communication channel with Watford or the player’s representatives.

Torino are considering other options as well but Okaka has emerged as a viable target for the Serie A side as they look to reinforce their forward line this month.

Okaka, who has played for clubs such as Roma, Brescia and Sampdoria in Italy, has a contract until 2021 with Watford.
