Francis Coquelin has insisted that he is happy at the career he had at Arsenal and admits that he has not left the Gunners with any regret.

The 26-year-old French midfielder ended his decade long association with Arsenal earlier this week when he joined La Liga outfit Valencia on a permanent transfer.

Joining the Arsenal academy as a teenager in 2008, Coquelin progressed through the ranks and ended up making 160 senior appearances for the north London club.

And the Frenchman insisted that despite becoming a peripheral figure towards the end, he has not left the club with any regrets and is happy with what he achieved at the Emirates.

He admits that he would have been more disappointed had he been forced to leave when his contract was supposed to expire a few years ago.

Asked if he has any regrets at Arsenal, Coquelin told L’Equipe: “Honestly, no.

“I would have had that if in 2014, when I was at the end of my contract, I was gone.

“Something clicked then, I played a lot of matches, and we won a cup and finished in the podium [top three] several times.

“I cannot be disappointed by that.”

Coquelin was recalled from a loan spell at Charlton in December 2014 following an injury crisis and he became a regular feature of the Arsenal team due to some consistent performances in the middle of the park.
