Bayer Leverkusen general manager Jonas Boldt has reiterated the club’s position on Chelsea target Leon Bailey and insisted that the Jamaican is at the right club for the moment.

The winger joined the Bundesliga outfit from Genk in January last year and his performances at Bundesliga have led to interest from big clubs in Europe.

Chelsea are believed to be keeping tabs on the Jamaican and are interested in taking him to west London during the winter window, but Leverkusen have been insistent on not selling him.

Boldt has repeated the club’s public stance on Bailey and insisted that his performances this season have not come as a surprise for the Bundesliga outfit.

The Leverkusen general manager also believes the Jamaican is at the right club for the moment in order to continue his development.

Boldt told German daily Bild: “Leon will definitely not leave in the winter.

"We have made our position clear there.

"He still has four-and-a-half years left on his contract.

“That he played very well in the first half of the season surprised many, but not us, now he has to do it in the first half of the year.

“We believe Bayer are the perfect platform for Leon Bailey, which is exactly what we see for many players.”

Bailey has found the back of the net six times in the Bundesliga and also has four assists to his name this season.
