Thomas Christiansen has underlined the importance of Leeds United’s training trip to Spain.

The Whites, who were edged out 4-3 by Millwall at the weekend, departed for Spain for five days of intense training on Monday.

Leeds are expected to have a double training session today, having trained lightly yesterday after flying.

The Yorkshire giants, who are now down to 10th place in the Championship table with 43 points from 28 games, will next face Hull City on 30th January.

And Christiansen insisted that his charges need to utilise their time in Spain to prepare well for the game against the Tigers, especially after losing to Millwall on Saturday.

When asked how important this week for Leeds is, Christiansen told LUTV: “I think it’s very important because of the result [against Millwall].

“We have to give even more importance to the four, five days we will have in Spain.

“We have to work hard and prepare for the game [against Hull].

“We have to be in the best condition and be ready for the important game against Hull.”

Leeds are currently in the midst of a poor run of form, having lost four of their last five outings in all competitions, while drawing the other.

The Whites, who are yet to taste victory this year, last won a game when they beat Burton Albion 2-1 on Boxing Day.
