The Juventus hierarchy could take advantage of their trip to England to play Tottenham Hotspur and try and close out the deal to sign Liverpool midfielder Emre Can on a free transfer.

Some of the top Juventus officials, along with the team, are expected to arrive in London today ahead of the second leg of their Champions League last 16 tie against Tottenham on Wednesday night.

While the Bianconeri players will be eyeing pulling off a shock result at Wembley after drawing 2-2 at home, the club hierarchy are expected to have a different goal on their agenda.

Can’s contract with Liverpool expires at the end of the season and he has refused to sign a new deal, which is expected to lead to his likely departure from the club in the summer.

Juventus have been in talks with the midfielder’s representatives for over a year and they have already agreed the outlines of a five-year contract for the Germany international.

While Can is most likely to join Juventus, the club remain on the guard as nothing official has been signed and the scope for other teams to get involved remains a distinct possibility.

According to Italian outlet Calciomercato.com, the Italian champions are expected to seek fresh talks with the player’s representatives this week in England and could try to close out the deal to sign him.

Juventus want the midfielder in the bag as soon as possible, but Can has shown an inclination towards finishing the season with Liverpool before committing his future to another club.

Club CEO Giuseppe Marotta recently had talks with the midfielder’s agent and he has been assured that the German remains keen on moving to Turin.
