Former Chelsea striker Tommy Langley believes success in the FA Cup could potentially extend Antonio Conte’s stay at Stamford Bridge.

Conte’s future at Chelsea has been subject to many headlines since the end of last season and there is a feeling that regardless of results he will be leaving in the summer.

While the Italian has maintained that he will honour his contract with Chelsea, there have been suggestions that the Blues are actively seeking a replacement and Conte himself is keen to find his way out of the club.

Langley admits all the headlines have not helped Conte and the Italian has been under pressure for the entire season at Chelsea.

But he believes if the Italian could pull off an FA Cup trophy win at the end of a traumatic campaign, he could still extend his stay at Stamford Bridge beyond the summer.

The former Blue said on Chelsea TV: “Listen, the spotlight's on the manager.

“Every day there are articles about him, is he staying, is he going.

“This trophy kept Arsene Wenger in a job last year and it might do the same for him, if he's thinking of leaving.”

Looking ahead of Chelsea's FA Cup semi-final tie against Southampton, Langley added: “For the manager it's a massive game.

"He's a winner.

"He wants to win and that is the key with him.”
