Hamburg could be prepared to do a deal with Leeds United for Pierre-Michel Lasogga in the summer due to financial pressure.

Lasogga has been struggling to even get into the Leeds starting eleven in recent weeks and Whites head coach Paul Heckingbottom has been coy over the German's future.

The striker was signed from Hamburg last summer on a loan deal, but there is no clarity whether Leeds will look to sign him on a permanent deal at the end of the season.

And according to German outlet Sport Buzzer, Hamburg would be more than happy to agree a fee with Leeds for Lasogga as his return to the club could create potential financial trouble next season.

Hamburg are hanging on for dear life in the Bundesliga and their relegation could be confirmed at the weekend, which would mean significant salary cuts for most of their players.

However, it has been claimed Lasogga’s contract with Hamburg has no relegation clause and he would earn his current wages of €3.4m per year should he return, even if they are in the second tier of German football.

The striker’s return could create conflicts in the squad and bring more financial distress to Hamburg.

And therefore, the German outfit are prepared to sit down for talks with Leeds over Lasogga’s future.
