The father of Manchester United youngster Indy Boonen is not worried about his son facing a tough climb to the top at Old Trafford.

The Premier League giants snapped up the midfielder from Genk in 2015 and the youngster has become a regular feature of their Under-23 side this season in the Premier League 2.

He has also represented the club's Under-19s in the UEFA Youth League and finally got an opportunity to train with the first team squad earlier this week as he looks to catch Jose Mourinho’s eye.

At 19, Boonen is yet to get a look in for a senior appearance at Manchester United, but Jacky Boonen, his father, insisted he would not change a thing about his son’s decision to move to Old Trafford.

He admits his son would have probably made his first team debut at Genk by now, but he is certain Manchester United have a plan in hand for the Belgian starlet.

“I would do it [pick Manchester United] again”, Jacky told Sporza.

“We know that it’s harder for young players to break through at Manchester United than at Racing Genk, but we’ll see what happens.

“The club have set up a career plan for him.”

Boonen is waiting for an opportunity to make his first team bow and will hope for inclusion in a matchday squad before the end of the season.
