Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson does not feel the Reds throwing away a two-goal lead over West Brom to draw 2-2 on Saturday is bad preparation for Tuesday night's Champions League meeting with Roma.

The Reds went 2-0 up at the Hawthorns in the Premier League clash, but were pegged back by two late goals which meant they had to settle for a point against the league's bottom side.

The Liverpool legend thinks it could keep the side on their toes going into Tuesday night's Champions League semi-final first leg against Roma at Anfield.

He said on LFC TV: "I don't think it's a bad thing going into a massive game.

"Sometimes you just need that little blow, that little reminder", Lawrenson added.

While Liverpool were held to a draw by a side expected to be playing Championship football next season, Roma eased to a 3-0 win away at SPAL in Serie A action.
