Arsenal have been keeping a close watch on Portuguese second division left-back Derick Poloni ahead of the summer window.

Poloni joined Portuguese second tier club Leixoes last year and has been one of the most consistent performers for the side, but his future may be away from the club next season.

With Leixoes unlikely to earn promotion to the top tier, Poloni has been tipped to leave the club in the summer and he has one of England’s top clubs on his tail ahead of the end of the season.

According to Portuguese sports daily O Jogo, former Premier League player and current Arsenal scout Luis Boa Morte has been regularly keeping a close eye on the left-back for the north London club.

Poloni has emerged on Arsenal’s radar as a possible option to strengthen their squad in the summer and Boa Morte has been keeping his eyes focused on his performances.

Scouts from French club Montpellier are also believed to be keeping track of the 24-year-old left-back as he nears the end of the season at Leixoes.

He has a contract until the end of next season, but it seems likely that the defender could leave, especially with clubs such as Arsenal believed to be interested in him.

A product of Brazilian giants Sao Paulo, Poloni arrived in Europe with Portuguese outfit Academica in 2013.
