AC Milan have abandoned the idea of signing Swansea City midfielder Ki Sung-Yueng this summer in a boost for Everton, who now have one fewer club to battle for his signature.

The 29-year-old South Korean is out of contract at Swansea at the end of the season and is expected to leave the Welsh giants in the next transfer window on a free transfer.

AC Milan have been in talks with the player’s representatives in recent months and there are suggestions that they even reached an agreement over terms on a contract.

However, Everton have made a late play for Ki and are considering taking him to Goodison Park in the summer on a free transfer to replenish their squad.

And the Toffees have received a boost in their chase for the Swansea midfielder, as according to Italian outlet Calciomercato.com, they are no longer keen to sign Ki in the coming months.
