West Ham United boss David Moyes has praised the influence of Patrice Evra, whose professionalism he believes is at an "unbelievable level".

The former Manchester United full-back arrived at the London Stadium in February on a free transfer and Moyes feels he has had an influence.

Though his appearances have been limited to just four in the league, Moyes insists that Evra's influence has been critical for West Ham, not only on the pitch, but also away from it.

Of the four matches the full-back has played, two have been against Liverpool and Manchester City. Though Evra has failed to prevent his side from losing those two games, Moyes has defended Evra by saying that one of the sides are the champions and one are fighting for the Champions League trophy.

The former Manchester United boss insists that his opting for the veteran has been due to the experience Evra has of playing in such crunch games.

"Patrice Evra has been fantastic around the Club since he arrived in February", Moyes said at a press conference.

"His level of professionalism is at an unbelievable level with the way he goes about his work and the way he is in the dressing room.

"The people who work with him and people who have had him all say the same.

"If you look at the games we’ve played him in, two of them have been against the very best teams in this country, one of whom is in the Champions League final and the other ran away with the Premier League.

"So, I think you have to give him a little bit of leeway because two of the games have been against top teams, and we play him in those games because we understand how good he is and because he’s been used to playing in big games throughout his career."
