Everton are preparing to offer a new contract to Matthew Pennington, but Leeds United continue to be fans of the defender.

Leeds snapped up the centre-back from Everton on a season-long loan deal last summer, and he had stints in the backline at Elland Road.

The defender’s contract with Everton set to expire in the summer and Leeds are claimed to still rate Pennington, leaving the door open for a potential return.

Everton have taken note of Pennington’s performances in a struggling Leeds side and according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, they are set to offer him a new deal to continue at Goodison Park.

Still only 23, Everton could still get a fee even if Pennington decides to leave in the summer, but a new contract will make it harder for Leeds to get their hands on the centre-back.
