Ex-Scotland international Steven Thompson insists that Kieran Tierney should be in no hurry to leave Celtic for a club of Bournemouth's stature, with only the likes of Manchester City and Manchester United worth considering.

Premier League side Bournemouth are claimed to have made the Celtic left-back one of their key summer transfer targets and are plotting a move to take him to the south coast.

Tierney has been linked with Manchester United, however the Red Devils' interest has cooled amid suggestions they want Juventus left-back Alex Sandro.

For Thompson, Celtic are a bigger club than Bournemouth and joining the Cherries is not something Tierney should consider.

The situation could be different if Manchester United come calling though, Thompson admits.

"I wouldn't be in a hurry to leave if I was him", Thompson said on BBC Sportsound Extra.

"He is absolutely adored. He is at the club he loves. He turned up at the game the other week as a supporter. He's been paid well for his job.

"I'm in no rush to leave if I'm Kieran Tierney – especially not to Bournemouth.

"Celtic are a bigger club than Bournemouth.

"If he was going to leave it would need to be something really special, by that I mean a Man United, a Man City, not a Bournemouth", he added.

Tierney has given every impression of being happy at Celtic and Bhoys boss Brendan Rodgers is not likely to be keen to see the youngster move on during the summer transfer window.
