Steven Gerrard has signalled to Rangers fans that he could take a leaf out of Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp's book when it comes to the style of play he will deploy at Ibrox.

The Liverpool legend, who is finishing off his time as the club's Under-18s coach, is set to take charge of Rangers from 1st June, with Gary McAllister coming in as his assistant.

Gerrard is untested as a senior team manager and Rangers fans have been wondering what style of play the former England captain will roll out at Ibrox.

And Gerrard has signalled it could have something of the Klopp playbook in it, while he is also keen to make sure he is as honest as possible throughout his time at Rangers.

"When you look at the style of football that Jurgen Klopp plays, I think every fan in the world loves watching that", he said in a question and answer session while at an LFC World event in the Middle East; Klopp has dubbed his style of play heavy metal football.

Gerrard is also keen to adopt Klopp's approach off the pitch.

"He's been absolutely massive for the club. What he does is he speaks honestly and truthfully.

"When you see a manager speak, you don't want someone to pretend or bat back any question.

"He answers every single question with honesty and truth and that's what we are about.

"It's one of his values that I hope to take", Gerrard added.

The Liverpool legend is taking charge of a Rangers side that finished third in the Scottish Premiership standings this season, capping off their campaign with a remarkable 5-5 draw away at Hibernian.

Gerrard is expected to oversee a number of changes in the squad over the summer.
