Rangers have moved a step closer to signing midfielder Scott Arfield after he passed a medical.

The Canada international is leaving Premier League outfit Burnley this summer following the expiry of his contract at Turf Moor; Arfield was offered fresh terms by the Clarets, but is set on a new adventure.

It emerged that Rangers want Arfield and have agreed a four-year contract with him.

Now the move is a step closer as, according to Sky Sports News' Jim White, the midfielder has passed a medical with Rangers.

Arfield's arrival is likely to have been given the blessing of incoming Rangers manager Steven Gerrard.
