Rangers director of football Mark Allen says that the Gers have so far not made any decisions on whether to try to keep players on loan at the club, but admits there is an agreement in principle to sign Jamie Murphy.

The Gers dipped heavily into the loan market in the January transfer window as they sought to strengthen their squad.

Defender Russell Martin landed on loan from Norwich City, while midfielder Sean Goss signed from QPR on loan. Murphy landed from Brighton on a loan deal, while striker Jason Cummings completed a loan switch from Nottingham Forest.

With the season now over, Rangers must assess what they do and Allen admits no decisions have been taken yet.

Asked at a press conference about whether loan players might be returning, Allen said: "We'll see. No final decisions have been made.

"We owe the courtesy to those players and their football clubs to be speaking with them first."

Allen was then asked specifically about Murphy, who it has been claimed a deal is in place for, having been agreed when he joined on loan from Brighton.

"Yes there is [an agreement in principle with regards to Jamie Murphy]."

Rangers have already started to make changes to their squad following the end of the season, with midfielder Scott Arfield joining from Burnley on a four-year contract.

The 29-year-old becomes the first signing made by incoming Rangers boss Steven Gerrard.
