Matz Sels is prepared to take a salary cut in order to aid Anderlecht to get a deal over the line with Newcastle United for his signature this summer.

The Belgian goalkeeper had a forgettable season at Newcastle before he was shipped out on loan to Anderlecht last summer and he has rekindled his career in his homeland.

Anderlecht are interested in signing him on a permanent deal and Newcastle are also prepared to move him off their books, but the two clubs don’t see eye to eye when it comes to a transfer fee for Sels.

Newcastle are keen to recoup as much of the €6.6m they paid Gent to sign Sels in 2016 and are claimed to be asking for a fee of at least €4m.

For the moment Anderlecht are not prepared to pay such a figure, but according to Belgian daily Het Laatste Nieuws, the club could receive an assist from the goalkeeper, who wants to stay in Belgium.
