Everton have a chance to obtain a work permit for Henry Onyekuru despite the player not making the Nigeria squad for the World Cup.

The Merseyside club signed the forward from Eupen last summer and immediately loaned him out to Anderlecht for the season.

A serious knee injury meant the forward missed a large chunk of the campaign and it has led to him not making the Nigeria squad for the World Cup this summer in Russia.

Anderlecht have an agreement with Everton to extend the loan deal for one more season, but the player is undecided about continuing with the Belgian giants for one more year.

It has been claimed that he has offers from clubs in Spain and England, while Bundesliga outfit Borussia Monchengladbach are also interested in taking him on loan this summer.

However, the possibility of him turning out for Everton next season has not been ruled out as according to Belgian daily La Derniere Heure, Onyekuru could get a work permit to play in England this summer.

There were suggestions that not playing in the World Cup killed any chance of him getting a work permit in England, but it has been claimed that Everton could still get the paperwork through.

The considerable transfer fee Everton paid for Onyekuru, coupled with his appearances in the Champions League this season could make him eligible to get a work permit from the Home Office.

Everton are more likely to loan him out for one more season, but Onyekuru could become eligible to play in England next season.
