Arsenal linked midfielder Piotr Zielinski is close to agreeing a new five-year contract with Serie A giants Napoli and ending speculation over his future this summer.

The Polish midfielder has been one of the stars of Napoli’s fine Serie A season and it has led to interest from the big wigs of Europe, including clubs from the Premier League.

Zielinski has been repeatedly linked with a move to the Premier League and there are suggestions that Arsenal are considering taking him to England in the ongoing window.

Arsenal are reportedly prepared to trigger the €65m release clause in his current contract, but it seems Napoli are set to ward off interest in the Pole at least for this summer.

According to Italian daily Corriere dello Sport, Zielinski is on the verge of signing a new deal and the outlines of an agreement have already been drawn up between Napoli and his representatives.

The Pole is expected to sign a new five-year deal with the Serie A giants, which will lead to a significant increase in his wages, in line with his performances for the club.

But more importantly for Napoli, the new deal will eliminate the problematic release clause, providing more control to the club when it comes to the midfielder’s future.

Napoli have been tipped to lose several star players this summer, but Zielinski is unlikely to be one of them.
